This is Unibap

At Unibap, we use intelligent application of artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization for both industry and space systems, to streamline production, reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing and to create better working environments. We know that our technology makes this possible.

Unibap was originally an academic offshoot, with expertise in areas including industrial automation, artificial intelligence, image analysis and space systems. The company was founded to develop and commercialize technical solutions originating from university research projects on intelligent technologies and applications.

Today, we offer innovative automation solutions to both small and large industry companies, as well as space enterprises. Using AI and robotics, these solutions can be adapted to our customers’ automation context.

Both NASA and the Husqvarna Group are among our customers. Our space products have been used in orbit around Earth since 2016, and in 2019 we completed our first large-scale smart factory industrial installation on Earth.

We want to lead the technological development to create unique value for our customers in the form of higher production quality, economic gains and safer workplaces. We use intelligent automation solutions to eliminate dirty, boring and dangerous tasks that wear out the people performing them. In the long term, this will increase people’s quality of life.

We are involved in developing the technology that will make it possible for humans to live in our universe.

We are also committed to the future of work, how society can adopt to the labour market of tomorrow; a labour market in which AI and automation will be widely implemented and where the required skills are rapidly changing.

Our history

Unibap was founded in 2013 by Dr. Fredrik Bruhn, Adjunct Professor at Mälardalen University with a Ph.D. from Uppsala University and a guest researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Dr.h.c. Kjell Brunberg, honorary doctor in Embedded Systems at Uppsala University and industrial PC expert, Professor Lars Asplund, robot nestor and Professor Emeritus in Computer Science at Mälardalen University and former Head of the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University and Karolina Bruhn, M.Sc. from

The aim was for Unibap to unite the disciplines of AI, robotics, space systems and reliable computer technology to develop and offer the next generation of automation solutions, for use both on Earth and in space.

In March 2017, Unibap was listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market.
