We are a high-tech company offering advanced solutions for Edge Computing and Cloud Computing in Space. Our SpaceCloud® offering consists of hardware, software, and services that transform the space industry by establishing a new standard for AI and cloud solutions in satellites.

Unibap was originally an academic offshoot with industrial automation, artificial intelligence, image analysis, and Space systems expertise. The company was founded to develop and commercialize technical solutions originating from university research projects on intelligent technologies and applications.

Today, we offer innovative and state-of-the-art solutions to space enterprises. These solutions can be adapted to our customers’ context, in orbit and on Earth.

NASA , ESA, SNSA (Swedish National Space Agency) and FMV (Swedish Defence Material Administration) are among our customers. Unibap’s US distributor is Moog Inc. For distribution of our products in South Korea and Japan we collaborate with NASAM KK.

Our space products have been used in orbit around Earth since 2016.

We want to lead the technological development to create unique value for our customers through high-performance online computing units providing the infrastructure and means of having Edge Computing and Cloud Computing in Space.

Our history

Unibap was founded in 2013 by Dr. Fredrik Bruhn, Adjunct Professor at Mälardalen University with a Ph.D. from Uppsala University and a guest researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory; Dr.h.c. Kjell Brunberg, honorary doctor in Embedded Systems at Uppsala University and industrial PC expert; Professor Lars Asplund, robot Nestor and Professor Emeritus in Computer Science at Mälardalen University and former Head of the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University; and Karolina Bruhn, M.Sc. from Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences

The aim was for Unibap to unite the disciplines of AI, robotics, space systems, and reliable computer technology to develop and offer the next generation of automation solutions for use both on Earth and in Space.

  • March 27, 2017, Unibap was listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market.
  • In 2019, we completed our first large-scale smart factory industrial installation on Earth.
  • June 30, 2021, SpaceCloud® was launched into orbit on the D-Orbit WILD RIDE ION mission
  • August 1 , 2023, Unibap’s industry branch was sold to Prevas making Unibap a Space-only company.
