Interview: Get to Know Pierre

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background?

“I am a sales professional with more than ten years of experience in selling technology and deep tech solutions. Although I graduated as an optical engineer, I only worked in engineering for one year before starting my sales career in Ireland within the augmented and virtual reality space.

I spent eight years in that sector, selling B2B XR solutions to enterprises such as Micron Technology , Fabio Perini, Airbus, and Renault Group , among others. This journey allowed me to live and work in several countries, including Ireland, Singapore, and Switzerland, and to take on various roles such as Inside Sales, Business Development Manager, and Head of Sales.

I have always been passionate about space, and in 2024 I had the opportunity to join Latitude, a French rocket manufacturing company, where I began my career in the space sector. I am now very pleased to continue that journey at Unibap Space Solutions as Senior Sales Manager, covering France, the UK, and Canada.”

What inspired you to join Unibap Space Solutions, and what are your impressions of the company so far?

“Joining Unibap felt like an obvious next step in my career for several reasons. First and foremost, the company’s ability to deliver reliable products at scale is impressive. Scaling production is one of the major challenges in the space industry, and Unibap is already in a strong position in that regard.

Additionally, the company has solid flight heritage and an established customer base. Another important factor is its commitment to continuous innovation, ensuring it remains at the forefront of edge computing and AI in orbit.

Finally, Unibap operates according to values that closely align with my own: listening to customers and partners, taking ownership, and delivering state-of-the-art solutions.”

As Sr. Sales Manager, what strengths and experience will you bring to the organization?

“Returning to a solution-selling approach aligns perfectly with my background in the XR industry. I am passionate about understanding customer challenges, identifying the right solutions, and supporting implementation throughout the entire project lifecycle.

For me, it is not about selling a piece of hardware and moving on—it is about building long-term, trusted partnerships that grow over time. I also bring a strong curiosity and passion for the space sector, which drives me to explore a wide range of projects and use cases. I believe that every conversation holds the potential for new opportunities, as long as you remain open-minded.”

What do you hope to achieve in your new role, both personally and together with your team?

“My priority is to build on the excellent work already done by the team, especially by Benita Gornicka. There is great value in what has been established, and my goal is to learn from that and take it even further.

I also plan to leverage my network in France, the UK, Canada, and beyond to expand the reach of our solutions and support new projects. On a personal level, I see this as a fantastic opportunity to represent a leading portfolio of solutions at a time when AI in orbit is no longer a future concept—it is already a reality in high demand.”

Which trends, opportunities, and challenges do you see shaping the space market today?

“One of the most important needs—whether in civil or defense applications—is reducing latency between data capture in orbit and its usability on Earth. Enabling faster and better decision-making is key.

There is also a clear trend toward increasing onboard intelligence in satellite missions. This includes automation, collision avoidance, onboard data pre-processing, and AI inference for pattern detection – all of which require dedicated edge computing solutions.

Another widely discussed trend is the development of space-based data infrastructure. While it remains to be seen how these visions will fully materialize, I see strong complementarity between these initiatives and the solutions Unibap is building.”

How do Unibap Space Solutions’ offerings and capabilities align with these industry developments?

“Unibap’s vision is strongly aligned with these trends, but the company goes even further. Continuous investment in research and development ensures that we remain in a leading position and continue to serve our customers effectively.

For example, our ix10 computer integrates CPU and GPU architecture along with a dedicated VPU for AI inference. This demonstrates that we are not only providing compute power in space, but also delivering a robust, best-in-class platform for multiple use cases.

Satellite manufacturers and operators already recognize the need for these capabilities. My goal is to demonstrate that Unibap is thinking ahead of the curve and committed to delivering even more value. A great example is our hyperspectral LOOM processing pipeline, and I look forward to discussing these innovations further with our partners and customers.”

We are proud to have Pierre on board and look forward to accelerating the future of AI in orbit together.
